Many times we don’t recognize children in our ministries. They are often seen as nonproductive to put effort and energy. However, we should remember how our Lord Jesus taught us how to appreciate and love children, such as in the Gospel of Luke 18:15-17 (NIV).

15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

Jesus valued children and set them as an example to those whom belong to His kingdom. He also taught us how adults should learn how to exercise child-like faith. This is one powerful scripture for us to understand: how we should see and approach children.

We should put effort and reach out to children. Work among them much more than churches and mission organizations do. I am coordinator of Fida International Mission Work among the Roma people. My mission is to help and encourage our missionaries and partners to see value of the children and act to reach them in a holistic way because today’s children are the future of Roma community!
